Query: Echolocation and Rock Art Landscapes

I'm Tommaso Mattioli and I'm a Marie Curie fellow at the University of Barcelona in Spain. My project is about acoustics and prehistoric rock art (http://www.archeoacustica.net). One of the lines of investigation on the project is the use of echolocation in rock art landscapes. I'm trying to measure the direction of arrival of echoes to see if prehistoric people might have choose shelters to be decorated on the basis of acoustic reflections.

I was wondering if you know some folklore related to echo and location of specific places in the landscape.
