This AFS effort, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts through its Folk and Traditional Arts program, provides support for consultancies to serve the needs of public folklore organizations, and for professional-development opportunities for individual public folklorists.
In addition to the benefits that consultants provide organizations and that individuals get from their professional development, each opportunity we support creates a best-practice or case-study report that we share with the folk and traditional arts field, and the world, on our website.
Our current grant runs through May 31, and I’m writing to encourage those of you who may know of opportunities for consultancies or professional-development opportunities that can be completed by that time to apply for support as soon as possible. Our funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and if past experience is any guide they will be gone well before May.
