Five artists and scholars in dance, music, and poetry will perform diverse genres and styles used today in the communities that constitute the old Bishopric territory of Puebla. This geographic área included diverse parts of what are now the states of Puebla, Hidalgo, Guerrero, and Oaxaca. This didactic concert will feature a variety of musical and choreographic genres of the Sierra Norte of the state of Puebla, such as the sones of danzas (ceremonial dances) devoted to the divine sphere, as well as sones and other Huastecan and Tixtlecan genres devoted to the human sphere. The concert will feature Isabel Galicia, Lourdes Santiago, José Luis Sagredo, José Gabriel García, and José Juan Pérez, all of Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, México.
Attendees are invited to stay after the concert to take part in a dance workshop, "Introduction to the Sones de Tarima of Tixtla, Guerrero."
